Established in 1985, Shanghai Volkswagen is one of the oldest examples of Chinese joint ventures in the field of automotive engineering.
Shanghai Volkswagen, a Chinese-German joint venture, is the largest auto manufacturing base in China, producing the largest number of autos. With sales in 2010 exceeding 1m units, it has 5 production areas, a technology development center and produces both Volkswagen and Skoda cars.
The tour will bring you to the auto assembly line to see the process about how a car is produced, giving visitors a taste of the inexhaustible charms of modern and advanced management, technology and science, and a better understanding about the far-reaching evolution and transformation of the living concepts and ways of life brought by the modern auto industry for the people. It lasts around 90 mins and begins by viewing the company’s introduction film. A visit then follows to the third factory’s product exhibition hall, the Press workshop, the body workshop and assembly workshop. This tour offers business studies groups a useful insight into joint ventures in the new China and the production techniques used in a modern factory.
