Luxun Park & Hongkou History
Hidden in Shanghai’s old lanes and streets are numerous historic revolutionary sites, which are often unnoticeable to careless tourists.
The Hongkou district lies to the north and east of the Suzhou Creek. It was originally developed by American and Japanese concessionaires. In 1863, it was combined with the British Concession to create the International Settlement.
This tour focuses on the mysterious past of modern China's history, follow Luxun's footsteps to discover the hidden house of the secret Sun Association which was the birthplace of the leftwing revolution, visiting long-forgotten backstreets of the homes which once belonged to writers, poets, and artists. Explore Duolun road culture streets, and learn about the development of China's 20th-century politics and literature.
Experience an authentic experience of local life by walking into a beautiful park named after Luxun, China's greatest modern writer for the 20th century, also an important critic known for his sharp essays on the historical traditions and modern conditions of China. Inside the park, everywhere you look people are involved in Tai Chi, ballroom dancing, singing in large groups and solo, playing instruments, engaging in various exercises, flying kites, and the list just goes on.
