Confucius Temple & Zhouqiao Town
Visit Jiading's Confucius Temple, Imperial Examination Museum. Walk through the ancient Zhouqiao town to see the iconic Fa Hua pagoda, QiuXiaPu and learn the legendary story of Wellington Koo.
Since the thirteenth century, Jiading's literary class produced many Imperial Examination scholars who in turn enriched the town with culture in the form of classical gardens, bamboo carving, painting, calligraphy, and poetry.
This time we will visit Jiading's Confucius Temple, Imperial Examination Museum. Walk through the ancient Zhouqiao town to see the iconic FaHu pagoda and learn the story of Wellington Koo, a US-educated diplomat who refused to sign the Treaty of Versailles.
Afterwards, we will visit one of Shanghai’s five classic gardens, QiuXiaPu. The gardens belonged to three families during the Ming dynasty and housed the town’s city God temple.
